Sermon 2: Keep God With You
When the sun rose this morning did you thank God for that miraculous happening? Did you even consider that the sun rising is a miraculous happening? Did you look outside and thank God for the beauty of the trees, the sky, the earth, the clouds, the planets? Did you thank God for the green lights when you drove somewhere? Did you feel appreciation for all the good things that happened to you today and share that appreciation with God?
It’s easy to talk to God anytime, anywhere. He’s right there, walking every step of your path with you. Your loving God remains at your beck and call, even during times when you are doing everything you can to push Him away.
Thanking God during the day is probably one of the easiest ways to get in the good habit of keeping Him close to you. And keeping Him close to you, talking to Him all day long, will fill you with strength. As you spend more of your day talking to God, you will feel a lightness begin around your heart. Pay close attention so you will be conscious of this feeling – it makes it easy to know that God is with you.
Surrounding yourself with God will give you all the strength you need to pursue your path to Heaven. Wearing God all over you makes the right choices easier to make and your next steps clear as a bell.
So, start getting into the habit of thankfulness and gratitude to God. A close parking space, a customer who didn’t have a complaint, an empty cash register line – this world is so complicated that all these seemingly random events are actually fantastic happenings. You will begin to perceive this world in a different light – when mail actually gets to its recipient it will now be a opportunity for you to thank God for the amazing things He set into motion.
Joy will naturally follow.
