Sermon 12: God’s Commandments – The Ninth Commandment
Ten laws from God were set in stone. Ten laws that God has commanded us to follow. These are the ten laws we must obey in order to stay on the path that leads to Heaven.
These ten laws have needed no amendments, no additions and no repeals. These ten laws were truly revealed to Moses by God.
God's Ninth Commandment
THOU SHALT NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS AGAINST THY NEIGHBOUR
This commandment is God’s warning to us about the damage that is caused by lying. You cannot know what the effect may be if you make up a lie about someone else. You could hurt other people beyond repair. A lie might even cause someone’s death. Maybe even your own – you know how these things can come back to haunt you.
A lie also will deter you from a straight, smooth path to Heaven. Heaven is a place of truth. so you must be truthful as you practice on earth to be the kind of person that can accept the goodness of Heaven. You can avoid many painful lessons by trying to be truthful at all times.
This commandment is also to remind us that we need to pay attention to our own path to Heaven and to be tolerant of everyone else while they follow paths of their own. It is not your job to interfere in someone else’s journey by uttering an untruth that may affect them. Only God is in charge of all of our paths. You are not to meddle with others.
Heaven is where everyone spends eternity in continual joyfulness and good will. You can’t be a liar there. Tell the truth or your pants may really end up on fire.
Thank you for reading our sermons and we hope they will help you find easier ways to cope with “bumps” in your life’s path. If you would like more personalized direction in an area of difficulty, please email us at pop2mom2@yahoo.com.
