Sermon 13: God’s Commandments – The Tenth Commandment
Ten laws from God were set in stone. Ten laws that God has commanded us to follow. These are the ten laws we must obey in order to stay on the path that leads to Heaven.
These ten laws have needed no amendments, no additions and no repeals. These ten laws were truly revealed to Moses by God.
God's Tenth Commandment
THOU SHALT NOT COVET THY NEIGHBOUR’S HOUSE.
THOU SHALT NOT COVET THY NEIGHBOUR’S WIFE, NOR HIS MAN-SERVANT, NOR HIS MAID-SERVANT, NOR HIS OX, NOR HIS ASS, NOR ANY THING THAT IS THY NEIGHBOUR’S.
This commandment spells out for us, in great detail, that God does not want us to suffer from jealousy. Your body one very important gift from God, as it is the vessel we inhabit while learning lessons during our earthly journey to Heaven. Jealousy is a very strong negative emotion and will damage our bodies and our minds. God wants us to keep our bodies healthy by experiencing positive emotions like happiness, and resisting negative emotions like jealousy.
Jealousy is so powerful, it can easily lead to breaking the other commandments, by lying about someone, by committing adultery, by stealing from someone, and, possibly, by killing someone. God loves us, so he is letting us know outright that we must not succumb to the temptation of jealousy. You do not need what others have, you need only what you truly earn, what God has determined that you need. One of the ways to build faith is to remember this commandment and not let ourselves greatly desire what someone else has. We must have faith that He will provide.
This commandment is also another reminder that God’s gift of Heaven is the important thing, not earthly possessions. Before being able to accept the perfection of Heaven, you must be able to stop your mind from creating jealousy. You do this by having faith that your path to Heaven must not be questioned. God knows what He is doing. You also do this by realizing that everyone else is on their own path to Heaven, learning lessons just like you. And you are not to interfere in their path, it is not your job.
So, live and let live. Love other people, don’t compete with them. Heaven is a place for everyone, where all are equal under God. Learning that will lessen the “bumps” of experience you will have in your life.
Thank you for reading our sermons and we hope they will help you find easier ways to cope with “bumps” in your life’s path. If you would like more personalized direction in an area of difficulty, please email us at candylovespop2@yahoo.com.
